Heatherwick Studio is a team of 200 problem solvers dedicated to making the physical world better for everyone. Based out of their combined workshop and design studio in Central London, they create buildings, spaces, master-plans, objects and infrastructure. Focusing on large scale projects in cities all over the world, they prioritize those with the greatest positive social impact.
In this article, we'll take a look at their top projects.
1000 Trees is a mixed use development spanning 300,000 square metres. The 15 acre site is located next to the M50 arts district and a public park near Shanghai Center. The integrated planting acts as a natural balancing element and the building’s edges are lowered to minimize the impact where it meets the art district and park, reducing the discernible threshold between them. Rather than hiding the columns which provide structural support, the columns emerge at the top of the building as large planters, each holding a handful of trees.
Vessel is a structure and visitor attraction built as part of the Hudson Yards Redevelopment Project in Manhattan, New York City, the elaborate honeycomb-like structure rises 16 stories and consists of 154 flights of stairs, 2,500 steps, and 80 landings for visitors to climb. The Structure was designed to be an urbanscaping idea of moving up people vertically from plane urbanscape, modeled after Indian Stepwells. Evolution of structural shape worked out on grids which each diagonals (stairs) connecting the landers, hence making like rigid mesh that stands out support frame.

Curled leaf form floating on the water, its veins rising like ribs at the edges to shelter the space from the wind.
These are some of Heatherwick Studio's top projects, hope you found it both informative and entertaining!
